ALEXIS WESTFALL JOINS TEAM SMITH AS LEGISLATIVE INTERN
SALEM, OR — Representative Gregory Smith (R-Heppner) is pleased to welcome Alexis Westfall to his team this week as a Legislative Intern.
Westfall will spend the 2026 legislative short session learning the legislative process, reviewing policies, and testifying on legislation affecting House District 57.
Westfall is a senior at Dufur School, where she serves as Class President, is a member of the National Honor Society, and was recognized as Wasco County’s 2026 Distinguished Young Woman. A dedicated student and top performer throughout her education, she has pursued college-level coursework through dual enrollment at Eastern Oregon University. In Fall 2026, she plans to attend the University of Alabama, where she will pursue a double bachelor’s degree before continuing on to law school. While there, she aims to further develop her language skills in American Sign Language and Spanish and to explore her interests in public service, athletics, and law. Westfall is passionate about using these skills to make a meaningful impact through a career in public policy and law.
Westfall expressed her gratitude for the internship, saying, “It is a privilege to work with Representative Smith and his team. This experience allows me to gain a deeper understanding of how thoughtful policy and legislation can address the needs of communities across Eastern Oregon, including Dufur, and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.”
“Alexis represents the very best of rural Oregon students,” said Representative Smith. “Her strong academic record, leadership experience, and commitment to her community will make her a valuable addition to Team Smith.”
Representative Greg Smith is a Republican who represents the entirety of Morrow, Gilliam, Sherman, Wheeler, and Wasco counties, and portions of Clackamas, Jefferson, Marion, and Umatilla Counties.
